Man Of The Week: An Interview with Model Duke Dadzie…

Man of the Week Duke Dadzie

Duke Dadzie is a London born Model and someone I’v know for a little while now. While still in his early 20’s, he is every bit of a man; and also one of the most down to earth, sweetest and funniest  guy’s I’v come across and I have even had the priviledge of working with him. Not just a pretty face, he is intelligent, ambitious and knows exactly what he wants. Flawless in the flesh (yes, ladies he’s even better looking than these pics on the page lol!), but still maintaining a boyish charm, I’v long predicted that Duke will go on to be one of the the UK’s biggest model exports we’ve ever seen. So I decided to sit down with Duke and quiz him for all those answers Im sure you wanna know…

So Duke tell Gurl About Town readers who you are?

Hey Gurl About Town, thanks for having me first of all! Well I’m Duke, a young and upcoming male model based in London. I am fairly new to the modelling game, I just decided to take up modelling as a career early last year as I was rather fortunate to get a head start by being crowned 2nd runner up in the 2007 Mr Supligent competition. That gave me quite abit of exposure and its just picked up from there really.

Where does the name Duke come from?

Duke is actually my father’s name, I just got the name passed down to me lol…whether it was a matter of him not being able to think of a more suitable name for me or not, thats what I ended up with in the end I guess lol!…As far as i know there is no special or symoblic meaning behind my name, I believe Duke is commonly known to be nobleman of high rank. Not quite the most accurate definition of myself though haha!

Whats your cultural background? Man of the Week Duke Dadzie

I am British (London) born to Ghanaian parents.

How long have you been modelling?

I have been modelling as a hobby for quite a while, I started doing a few bits and bobs here and there, and then due to the response I started getting I decided to do it professionally part-time. Over the past year things have really picked up and so far I have been involved in quite a few projects; magazines, newspapers and catwalk shows primarily. Things Iv done include numerous New Era Cap Campaigns, Touch magazine, Maharishi, Black Beauty and Hair magazine,Youngvoices, The Cookbook and OriginsMedia…to name just a few!

Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?

In 5-10 years, God willing, i will be involved within 1 of three possible career choices, 2 of them within the financial services industry, the other will be the more glamoruous lifestyle of a well known model, hopefully I will achieve some of what Tyson beckford and other top models of colour have achieved in their time and leave my mark on the industry also breaking way for a new generation of models of colour.

Whats been your biggest achievement so far?

My biggest achievement so far is still in the pipeline if  I were to be honest, getting a degree will by far be the best thing yet…

…And your Biggest regret?

My biggest regret, erm…there is nothing specific that i can say i regret most but there are a numer of experiences that have got me to my conclusion…i wish i would have taken more advantage of my potential and made the most out of my opportunities.

Man of the Week Duke DadzieDuke, Iv seen you cause quite a stir with the ladies! I know your pretty modest, but be honest, you must like/enjoy the attention?

Causing a stir with the ladies haha!…i wouldnt know whether thats a good thing or not but lets be honest here, who doesnt like at least some attention, i dont like being the centre of attention but getting some female attention here and there doesn’t hurt, it shows that that my efforts are not in vein lol!

Hmmm, okay…So how would you Rate yourself on a scale of 1 -10?

I would rate myself 8…I say 8 because its a solid number,2 numbers above average(5)  and 2 below perfect(10) and I most definately aint perfect haha!

When you get some free time, How do you like to unwind and relax?

When I need to relax, I usually take up some sort of activity or excercise, basketball most of the time when the whether is at my mercy, or the gym when im restricted from going outdoors.

Are you single?

Yes i am single at the moment…

What qualities do you look for in a girl?

I tend to go for girls who have respect for herself and others, sex appeal, someone who’s confident but not cocky, She’s gotta be smart, ambitious, outgoing, relaxed, patient and have the ability to keep up a good conversation…Not too picky am I ?? lol!

What turns you off a girl?Man of the Week Duke Dadzie

Impatience and over anxious attitudes are big turn offs in my books.

Whats the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?

Im not a romantic kind of guy unfortunately…I have only done one thing close to romantic in my life. Maybe because I have only ever been in one relationship and I was also quite young…so wouldnt quite call it romantic lol, basically  took my girlfriend at the time to the cinema, at the end of the movie i slipped my gift into the hood of her jacket, told her a worm fell into the hood and I was too scared to get it out in order to make her reach into her hoodie herself, she pulled out the so called worm and was amazed to find that it was a a tiffany’s necklace (hardly romantic) lol!

List 5 words that describe you?

Off the top of my head I’d say Smart, cheeky, mysterious, intriging and fun.

Duke thanks for your time! Before you go, let Gurl About Town readers know where else they can  catch you?

Sure! You can find me on Myspace and Im also on Facebook under the name (Duke Dadzie).
