Man Of The Week: Kevan Evans.

kevan Evans - Man of The Week.Kevan Evans is a man on a mission. A Dancer, Model and Actor he undeniably stands out in a crowd. A cutie who could melt you in an instant with his boyish smile and yet so full of contradictions…. He’s confidant, outspoken and upfront with a sharp and cutting sense of humour – Maybe that’s the South London in him!….But yet catch him on the flip side and you’ll see a side that’s unassuming, focused, thoughtful, caring and very sweet. Talk to him all day and you can feel like you’ve only scratched the surface; So I decided to sit down with him a little longer to find out a bit more about the man they call ‘Kinetic’…

Kevan tell GAT readers who you are?

I am Kevan ‘Kinetic’ Evans. The alias simply means caused by movement. I Dance/Choreograph, Act and Model.

How long have you been performing?

From 2003 onwards. I started studying performing arts and taking part in Theatre and Music Theatre productions, on to Street/Hip-Hop Dance shows and competitions, and now modeling. My passions lie in Acting and Street/New School Hip Hop Dance.

What’s your Ethnic Background.

I am mixed race. My mother is English and father Jamaican.

So you Dance, Model AND Act…Do you see yourself as Triple Threat?kevan Evans - Man of The Week.

No. To say I am a triple threat is saying I rely on these three interests. As I can’t put my finger on just one of them, I use my knowledge, experience and talents to open doors and experiment new and original opportunities.

If you had to do just one; Model, Dance or Act, which one would you choose?

Definitely Acting. I find it an exhilarating challenge, Rehearsing and learning lines, being able to get into character and performing in front of an audience or the camera, knowing all the hard work has paid off. I am a performer who feeds off of an audience’s reaction and energy, which is one of the reasons I love to dance.

What’s been the Highlight of your career so far?

By far the Estelle ‘Just a Touch’ video shoot. Shot in New York, This amazing experience gave me a first hand taster of the industry, also the hunger to succeed not only as an actor, dancer or a model, but as an entertainer. CHECK OUT KEVAN IN ESTELLE’S ‘JUST A TOUCH’ VIDEO BELOW!

What Projects are you working on at the moment?

Currently I am rehearsing with a new dance group, One in which I am able to add my own imaginative ideas and choreography. A performance in march, My first dance performance since the beginning of 2008. Also a new project called ‘Pandora’s Box’. A new and original form of entertainment coming soon.

Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?

I cannot answer that right now, as I don’t even know where I see myself next month!

Do you enjoy being considered Eye Candy by the Ladies?

I don’t see myself as eye candy with the ladies. I’m not a person who walks around with a chip on my shoulder, acting like a ladies man. There are times and places for that, such as photo shoots or fashion shows.

Describe yourself in 5 words?

Proud, Confident, Honest, Impatient & Expressive.

Your a very outspoken and not afraid to share your views no matter how your feeling….Has this led to any crazy situations?

Many times. I’m a person who finds different peoples opinions interesting. My views are usually different to his or hers, but I let my point be known. This may lead to a person getting angry or upset, and Some people may find me 2 be rude or obnoxious but I feel if a person has an opinion on something they agree or disagree on, they should make their voice heard.

Discuss some of your Biggest life lessons learnt?

* To choose wisely who I share information and progress with.

* Never to doubt an individual on what they have or haven’t done.

* To never get ahead of myself or boast about my achievements, as there will always be somebody working twice as hard as you are.

*Last but not least, Growing up in a single parent household has made me more determined to succeed in what I do in life.

What puts a smile on your face?

Seeing or hearing amazing performances. To hear a song for the first time that I really like. It sounds weird but I actually get Goosebumps from these things. Also just to be in the company of my mum, sister and close friends.

Who inspires you?

First and foremost Michael Jackson. Growing up listening to his music, imitating his dance moves wishing I could be like him when I grow up. I also admire artists such as Ciara, Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake, Not necessarily for their music, but for their videos and live performances.

Acting wise, I have to say Will Smith, As he’s probably the most consistent actor of my generation, one of few who you can watch and believe he is the character he is playing. Ummm….Then there’s Lewis Hamilton, a man who broke a world record not only as the youngest in his sport to win a world championship, but the first mixed race person to do so.

And lastly, Barack Obama; Just Inspirational in so many different ways.

What Pisses you off?

People who are late! especially when it’s important that they are early and have a weak excuse. I like to be punctual so I even get irritated at myself if I am late for anything!  Also I dislike people approaching me with all that “he said, she said” information and finally, people who only want to know you when they need or want something.

So Kevan, the ladies wanna know…Are you Single or Spoken for?

I’m single…

Being Single, What do you look for in a girl?

I don’t have a specific color or race but when it comes to appearance, one thing I don’t like is kevan Evans - Man of The Week.weave and extensions (No disrespect to the woman out there who do have it!). I like woman who look similar going out, to how they would waking up in the morning. By that I mean I don’t like too much make up. I like a woman who’s is a size 10-12 and is comfortable with the way they look . A confident woman who is open and not scared to try new things. A woman who speaks their mind and doesn’t beat around the bush. A woman who puts actions in front of words, because talk is free.

What’s the most Romantic thing you’ve done OR a girl has done for you?

I must admit I am not romantic. I don’t feel I need try to impress a female to get to know here. All it takes is effort from both sides to find out if it’s the person for you. Then the romance will naturally follow. I don’t have any memories of a girl doing anything romantic for me.

Okay and so lastly Kevan, you seem so focused and on point with what your doing; Is there any advice you’d give to those wanting to go down a similar career path?

To not let failure discourage you. We will not always achieve what we want to but lessons will be learned from mistakes and decisions we decide to make. There will always be people ready to bring you down to satisfy themselves, Allow this to happen and they win. Believe in yourself.

Kevan thanks for taking the time out to talk to GAT! We’re sure we’ll be seeing Alot more of you in the very near future.

  3. I would like to take the time to say i think kevan is an inspiration to us all. He has shown that you can achieve your goals in life through sheer determination and passion.
The first time i met him i didn’t expected him to be so down to earth, being that the stereotype for someone like him would be him being arrogant, but he wasn’t at all. In fact he was very charismatic and always making us laugh, that’s why i wish him all the best for the future cos i know he’s genuine.
Keep up the good work hun, fingers crossed i’ll see you in some big blockbuster soon. Hehe! X
